Laniakea is Hawaiian for open skies or immense heaven. Pronounced Lah-nee-ah-keh-ah.

The Laniakea Supercluster is the galaxy supercluster that is home to the Milky Way that contains our Solar System and 100,000 other nearby galaxies stretched out over 520 million light years.

It was defined by a group of Astronomers from around the world who published a new way of defining Superclusters in September 2014. Our origins are intertwined with the stars, they contain the fundamental building blocks that were deposited on earth, the very essence of creation, bringing Heaven to Earth.

The beautiful 'Cosmos' flowers symbolise universal harmony, peace, tranquillity and love. Therefore they were a fitting flower to display on my home page.
